Please note: So we can provide you the best possible view of our work, we're publishing fairly high-resolution images here in our online Gallery. These images will look best on a computer monitor set to show thousands or millions of colors (16 bit or 24 bit video) rather than 256 colors. They may also take a little while to download if you're using a slow modem connection. We invite you to stop by our shop in Downtown Ithaca for a better look at some of our work!

Moose

Natural birch bark mat mounted over a 4-ply rag board

Ezra Cornell Tapestry

This 7x14 foot piece resides at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Free hanging within a custom milled oak frame measuring 2" wide and 6" deep. Completely lined to avoid acid migration. Glazing is two pieces of plexiglass seamed in the middle with acrylic adhesive.

Dog

Framed in all rag mats with hand cut designs extending the artwork onto the matting. We have created other mats using pheasant feathers as an inner mat, any combination of fabrics, and old burlap feed bags, to name a few.

Leaf Mat

A MasterCraft original. The print is Brian Jarvi's "Ruffed Grouse." The matting is created by double-laminating leaves and mounting that to a four-ply rag board, then cutting like a regular mat. It's a neat effect on the right pieces.

Offset Corner Frame -- Pearl Finish

MasterCraft also builds cathedral, octagonal, and other multi-angle frames. Send us your idea or a drawing and we can quote you a price on a truly customized frame.

Sword

This is a glass display box created for a replica of the sword that El Cid used to drive the Moors from Spain. The box is made of gold leaf mouldings with a flannel lining and black interior trim. The top is piano-hinged to allow for removal of the sword. This same idea works nicely with ship models and antique weapons. We also create glass boxes using stained glass techniques of soldering edge glass together and adding any kind of frame moulding for a base.

"Waterfall" by Joan Reuning

A woven fabric piece that required a specialized mounting and stretching system to effect the waterfall look. Joan owns a store in Corning, New York named Fibers. We also mount canvas and any other material you wish.
